Hello Again!

2 min read
I think it's been between five and six years since the time that I stopped actively using devART. I've missed this community a lot!

At first, I pulled back because I was focusing on finishing my last two years of university. I had a lot of art classes and a part-time job. You know how it is.
After that, I spent two years working as an independent contract artist for indie, mobile and web games. I had to spend a lot of time networking so that I would have more work lined up.
As of August 2011, I've been working full-time as a User Interface Artist in mobile games. (For those of you who might be interested in a career in games - it's a very difficult industry to break into, and the work is always challenging. This is what I love about it. :heart:)

I've also been learning many different kinds of art, and my illustration skills have suffered a bit from lack of practice.
I have never stopped making art though. My boyfriend, whom I live with, is a games programmer, and we are constantly working on projects together. These projects are a lot of fun! I've made concept art, pixel art, 3D models with all of their trimmings, 2D textures, UI, effects... tons of things! But ultimately, I'm not comfortable posting this work on deviantART, for the same reason I became uncomfortable posting my academic and professional work here years ago. It just doesn't feel like the right forum for it.
I will pimp the hell out of these projects given half the chance, though!

From here on out, I'm going to try to post any full-color illustration pieces that I deem appropriate for the community to deviantART again. Hopefully you will be hearing a lot more from me this year!
I am still pretty nervous about the quality of my art, too. I can do so much better! I want to push my skills as much as I can, and I know from experience that deviantART is a great community in which to do just that!

As always, a ton of my work can be found at alchemyprodigy.net (my portfolio) or my LiveJournal.

See you around!

An update to say, if it wasn't obvious, I don't really use deviantART anymore.

Striving towards professionalism, I have decided to move the bulk of my gallery into storage. The work is still there, invisible to public eyes.

I will be keeping my account open for possible future use.

In the meantime, if you are interested in my work, you can visit my online portfolio alchemyprodigy.net, or my LiveJournal.
I will also endeavor to archive the majority of my stored gallery within a subsection of my domain.

If you have any questions about me or my work, or just want to say hello, please contact me using a method other than deviantART comments or notes. I will not be able to keep track of or reply to you otherwise.

Hope you're all doing okay. :3

...I have no idea how to navigate this site anymore. >>;

Well, I've taken rather a longer hiatus from devART than I had meant to. For which I have many excuses. Mostly, I've been concentrating on college this past year. And have a vastly improved GPA to show for it.

Also, I haven't been drawing very much, because art classes are sapping my enthusiasm as well as my time.
And what I have been drawing has been Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan stuff, which I figured doesn't interest that many people here (though I shall proceed to upload a little of it anyway).
I had intended to update a bit at the start of my summer, but summer school classes and house-hunting intervened.
Ultimately, it seems that I don't have as much time to devote to dA as I used to.

I don't know if I'm really back for good or not, but I thought I might as well say something along the lines of "hey, I'm alive".

If I'm dilatory about updating and for some reason you really want to hear from me, you can always find me at alchemyprodigy.net and my livejournal.

I'm really sorry if my extended absence affected anyone, and would also like to express thanks to any feedback given while I was away. Suffice to say, I do not relish delving through my very full message centre just yet.

I'm back from Yaoi-con '06, and I got me a small but significant haul.

First off, I managed to find a Slytherin tie for my pre-planned group dressup for the OotP movie release. ComatoseSiren, we're still planning on going as the Inquisitorial Squad, if you like. And I have a very belated birthday present for you next time our paths cross as well! :D
I also got some adorable Marauders shounen-ai doujin, and some lovely cosplay photos of my housemate and her friends.
But what I'm happiest about is that I finally managed to get my hands on an Obi/Qui doujin. It's sooo hawt! *3* {:heart:)

I got my Jack Sparrow cardboard cutout all set up in the living room window of my apartment now too. x3;
And my parents ordered the Quiggy action figure over the weekend from Amazon to save for my birthday, and (amazingly) he came in the mail yesterday afternoon. :love:
I should also be expecting my Jack Sparrow bandana (from this awesome cereal box offer I found) to arrive shortly too. *o*

And, at Christmas, my dad is taking my sister and I on a two week holiday to Japan. :excited: :heart:
So I'll be making my way over to Akihabara and spending even more money on even more pointlessly adorable stuff! D:

I'm feeling such an amazing stroke of luck with all the pretty things I've been getting lately. Niko tells me I'm well past the verge of becoming a spoiled brat. >o>;
I don't mean to be, honest. In my opinion it's all just a phenomenal run of chance. You believe me, right?!? >w<;;;

EDIT: and it's not over yet, because Tsubasa #11 and FFXII are out on Halloween~! Fate is spoiling me right now!!!1one! :XD:

TwT;;;

I just found the perfect birthday present for myself on eBay, but no-one will buy it for me. :cries:

(I'm not allowed to buy stuff on eBay, because my accounts are all tied up with my parents' financial stuff.)
It would only cost about $12 including shipping, and if one of my friends were to get it for me I would give them muuuch free gift art for all eternity. :blowkiss:

But everyone else is paranoid like me and doesn't trust eBay. :XD:
So saaad~! :(
</rant>

In other news - I'm almost done with the latest slew of projects and midterms.
I've gotten myself caught up in the request art business for RPG monies, and you guys know how terrible I am with requests/suggestions. I'm not going to be finished with them for aaages. >o>;;;

GWAH! oh! My mum bought me a Jack Sparrow cardboard cutout to stick in me apartment window. :heart: :heart: :heart: (she is the bestest mum evers~!!1one!!)

I'm going to Yaoi-con in SF this weekend too, so look out! :excited:
My yaoi fangirling knows no bounds, nyo. x3;;

Also, my mum said that last week my work permit finally came in the mail!!! ZOMG, after liek, five years of waiting, I can finally make money!!!! I would dearly love to set up a booth at Y-con and sell some things, but I didn't have enough time to prepare. Plus, I don't have a proper social security number, so I wouldn't know how to go about setting up shop anyways. o__O;

EDIT: oh! oh! I found it on Amazon! *glee* I'm such a fusspot. ^^;
